Would I have to worry about not being able to play certain games with AMD hardware? Are there games that won't recognize it as well as nvidia? I'm trying to save as much money as possible and AMD is far more reasonable in price but if it means a sacrifice in anything it's a no.

Because (supposedly) AMD = FINISHED

Same reason you'd legitimately go with AMD over Nvidia. Hard numbers on benchmarks. Some generations Nvidia is ahead, some generations AMD is. Sometimes it even swaps from driver to driver.

If you don't intend to upgrade for some years, Nvidia supports their older GPUs for longer. AMD has even stopped supporting Vista in their latest drivers

Good, nobody should be using Vista anyways.

I don't blame them at all because Vista was so bad it made Windows 8 seem like the best OS ever.

Nvidia cards are supposed to be cooler and quieter, especially in the higher-end side of things. I suppose AMD focuses on more raw horsepower per dollar while Nvidia is more about efficiency and stability.

I've never owned an Nvidia card so I can't really speak for it though.

You do realize Windows 7 is just Vista in drag? Big issue was driver support and the gap between the baseline hardware it needed and the ancient hardware people tried to run it on.
