So, I installed a new monitor. Question

I was using one of those Sony 3D Displays as my monitor. I got in on Black Friday a while back for cheap and it crapped out on me(heard they had a high failure rate).

So, I got lucky on that Walmart price error sale. Got this monitor for $8:

I was going to sell it, but it came of great use since my 3D Display crapped out. Anyway, the quality of the 3D Display was MUCH better. The colors were a lot richer and fuller. Crystal clear picture. This doesn't look significantly better than this cheap LCD monitor I used to have on my old computer.

Is that normal? Maybe my eyes just aren't adjusted to the picture, yet? Maybe it's because this is a computer monitor and the other was meant to be used as a TV/Display? Not sure.

Are you using HDMI to connect it to your video card? I'm curious to know what happens if you use a different cable, e.g. DVI or DP. Or even VGA.

Yes, I'm using HDMI.

The HDMI cable it came with was one I've never seen before. Maybe this is common with monitors, but it was your standard HDMI on one end and VGA-like on the other end.

I just used one of my standard HDMI cables, though.

yeah, i remember using my nephews ps3 display on my computer. While the 3d worked, everything else just looked washed out. Something to do with PCs transmitting to televisions, different color spectrums or some junk like that.

Have you messed around with any picture settings on the monitor or in your graphics control panel?

Do you have the model # of your old tv? I'm thinking your old tv used a IPS panel while your new monitor uses a TN panel.

I'm messing with it now. See what happens.

Maybe the picture is fine and it just pales compared to the other.

It was this:
