I started hearing more about this raid set up, in which you combine multiple hard drives into one. I wonder if that's the standard now for having multiple ones?

Right now I have a 120GB SSD and 2 TB HDD

You shouldn't RAID SSDs and HDDs together, it will be wonky.

RAID 0 on HDDs have imperfect scaling, just like SLI. you might gain 60 percent of speed or so. I have a RAID 0 array of 2 SSDs and it does double the speed. Though you might lose TRIM support. Not sure whether or not that has been fixed

Also know that if you setup two drives in raid0 and 1 drive fails, all your data is gone.

I was thinking of doing a RAID5 using 4 256gb SSDs, but then I realized how expensive that would be so I probably will just get one of those and a TB HDD.
