Could I use a USB keyboard and HDMI cable into my HDTV with a MacBook Pro?

So I get the benefit of a large "monitor" and the freedom of a regular keyboard. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question or just popped into my head and I really don't know if it would work. Thanks

Keyboard: Yes

HDMI: You will need a miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter or a cable with miniDP on one end and HDMI on the other.
