Was looking into a gtx 770, 4gb edition. Was thinking maybe the EVGA one because I think it's super clocked.

The one I looked at was $399.99. That's about the range I'm in money wise. I want to stick with nVidia. Anyone here care to share their thoughts on their 770, or a similar card, of similar value, that they think is a good choice?

One TV, a 55" Samsung, 1080p resolution, and that's high enough for me. Actually on my 40" and 42", I often play in 1600x900 because it still looks good.

I honestly would go with something like a R9 280x in that case. It's cheaper, performs slightly less than the 770, and with the whole AMD Mantle thing coming out it could easily offset the less performance and then some. Assuming Mantle isn't complete bull ****, of course.

There's no real reason to go above and pay for more than 3GB VRAM with a single 1080p monitor. And with the 280x, you probably wouldn't have to lower it to 1600x900 on anything you are playing.

Mantle isn't bull, but the fact you're suggesting something you say is slightly less powerful than a 770 in performance (which is wrong btw) for the chance that an API that isn't yet supported by the vast majority of new software will offset the performance slack (again, wrong because the 280x is more powerful) is stupid.

I thought the 770 ran slightly better than the 280x/7970.

From what I read, the 770 seems to be a better deal, and I know right now 3gb is enough, but I plan to run this new card for the next 3-4 years, and 4gb might be necessary by then. Also I guess the speed the gpu accesses the gddr5 is 7ghz, which is faster than even the 780, or the Titan.

What is this mantle feature for the AMD chips? Like I said, I'd like to stick with nvidia. I saw on nvidias site they have a 770ti version now? Is that out yet? N how how much does the Ti version retail for?

Btw, I'm avoiding ordering online. We have microcenter in my area, and they have good enough deals to where I don't have to order online.

wait a little bit, and get a R9 290 with an aftermarket cooler. Better than a 770 4g. Unless you have to have physic x. Other wise, to me is just blowing money way. Its like if someone offered me a 4g 7870. Whats the point? the band with is still 256. And other than that, for the same price you can get a much better card.
