4K Monitor for cheap, but only 30hz. Is it worth it?

This is cheaper than a lot of 2560 x 1440 monitors 27 inch, yet it has much larger resolution and it is larger screen.

I've heard that the monitor can do 1080p @ 60hz or 120hz. And 2560 x 1440 at 60hz and maybe 85~100Hz. But I want some full confirmation on that.

It is also said that it looks ugly at those resolutions because the scaling is not that great.

But still $500 for a 4K monitor that can be used as a TV. Should I go for it?

I wouldn't.Only 30 frames?
Is there really a lot of material for 4k atm anyways?
You should check out some of those korean monitors though!

Yeah, but what if I were to use the monitor at 2560 x 1440 the majority of the time in 60hz and in a few games I want to view in glorious 4K I switch to 4K?

Right now I'm on a 20 inch 1600 x 900 60hz monitor so it is still a big upgrade

Just go 1440p or 1080p.
It'll be about 2 years minimum before we see 4K monitors that are actually worth purchasing. Trust me.

If you're willing to get off-brand monitors/TVs, just get one of the qnix 1440p monitors that are like sub-$300. Running 1440p on a 4k TV would be...eh.

I heard Seiki's 50-inch TV wasn't very good, so I wouldn't have any higher hopes for the 39-inch. Basically, I read that the only good thing about it is the resolution, and everything else that makes a TV good is kind of bad. Those other things are probably even more important in monitors since you're closer to the screen and notice more.

At that, you hardware needed to run games at 4k, even at 30fps, makes it less attractive.

Hell no. Frame rate > resolution almost everytime.

Lol, that kills me that they lock the framerate on it. It's not the first NFS they've done this with either.
