4K Monitor for cheap, but only 30hz. Is it worth it?

Yeah even at a non native resolution it will still look better than my current set up. I use my monitor at non native resolutions all the time and it doesn't look any worse than you'd expect it would at lower resolutions. Especially using gpu scaling

The off-brand 1440p monitors are the way to go if you're going that route, don't worry about 4K as of yet.

Just got the TV. It's REALLLY Huge. A lot bigger in person than I expected. Maybe a little unrealistic to use as a monitor. It's nice though. I got 1920 x 1080 @ 120Hz working as an option So if I want really high framerates I can switch to that, or Use 4K @ 30hz for when I want just high resolution

Just go 1440p or 1080p.
It'll be about 2 years minimum before we see 4K monitors that are actually worth purchasing. Trust me.

I'm expecting to hear periodic updates on your experiences with the TV for PC use. For science.

If you're willing to get off-brand monitors/TVs, just get one of the qnix 1440p monitors that are like sub-$300. Running 1440p on a 4k TV would be...eh.

How are those? I saw one at around 300$.

No problem bro. Just played NBA 2K14 and GTA 4 Ballad of Tony in 4K and they both look absolutely beautiful.

2K14 was some what hard to play however because of the 30 hz framerate. My jumper was off. The game otherwise played well though.

GTA 4 played perfect however. My 7950 allowed me to play at a stable constant 30fps. And with the high resolution, the lack of AA support didnt even matter at all. Now I did enable MLAA for s*** and giggles and the game looked gorgeous, but it ran at literally 3fps. I had to ALT TAB out and disable it.

How is the quality of the panel itself? Any major issues with backlight bleed or screen uniformity?

I thought the Seiki tv supports 1440p @60fps. I recall reading a personal review that says that.

Oh, you thought they made this game for you? You clearly bought the wrong game.

I'm not the best judge in quality, but I can say that it Is not great. There is backlight bleed. It's not as bad as my last cheap TN panel monitor, but it can be seen when you have a black screen
