Steam won't left me gift a game because of a free weekend?

Ok, my friend wanted Rage so I got it for him.
However, because of the free weekend... I can't gift him the game...

What is going on?

On his page is says "Rage - 1 Day Left"

If anything, just store it in your inventory till the sales over

Steam works in a funny way. When a game is f2p, even temporarily, the way Steam makes it free is by just making everybody an owner.

Steam is weird sometimes. Example;

Long time ago i took up Pay Day for a free weekend. Because i took part in the free weekend (i didn't buy it) To other people it apparently shows me as having Pay Day, so i sometimes get invites to play it.

Pointing out your stupidity is not trolling
