Is Windows 8.1 good, compared to Vista?

I would say that 8.1 is good for the most part. It boots very fast, has better performance in gaming AFAIK, the new task manager is nice, and I like the explorer ribbon. I really dislike the start screen though, so I use Classic Shell so I don't ever have to see it.

One reason Win8.1 has better CPU performance in multithreaded apps, has been shown to be due to how core parking is handled. core parking can be turned off in Vista and 7 though

Would there be any reasons to hate 8.1 other than the interface? As I said, I'd be willing to re-learn it. I'm more interested in the OS's performance. It took me just a few days to get the hang of Vista, up from XP. How long would it take to be familiarized with 8.1?

^everyone here will see Windows 8.1 is easy to learn and that anyone who says otherwise is a troglodyte who is afraid of change.

Just try it out man, If you don't like it then you can reformat and get 7 which is a more improved vista
