If Steambox wants console gamer's to use it, why are they allowing KB/M?

Not allowing it would be worse IMO. One solution would be a filter for "gamepad only" servers.

They should have that for CoD Ghosts, gamepad players are almost always top of the server in TDM/FFA.

I can confirm this to be true. Frankly, I wish it would just connect us with the Xbox servers so we could have more people to play against. I'm tired of always stomping on PC baddies.

There was a huge imbalance between the two types of players, but now Microsoft is wanting to bring the idea back for the Xbone.

Except, FPS multiplayer is THE highest played genre among hardcore players. The one's Steambox is supposedly targeting, right?

Not really, you could probably make this work if you phrased it as "best selling" but for "most played" MOBAs take it easy.

Halo, COD, and Battlefield's multiplayer user's are in the millions.

If we add up all the players across 5 platforms right around 200,000. Dota 2 alone currently has ~318,000 players right at this moment and League boasts daily peaks of around 3 million.

From a user's standpoint options are always a good thing. The could make it mandatory you use this exact controller with this button config, but then there's always someone who wont like it. If they allow KB/M and various controllers and games allow custom configs on the keys/controllers your a lot more likely to keep a person happy and using your machine.

People using gamepads for FPS are already at a disadvantage. The Steambox does nothing to change that.

Yeah I know, it's horrible to give the end user a CHOICE.

FPS and RTS are the only two genre's that I use KB/M with.
Everything else I use a controller for.

FPS and RTS are also my two least played genre's

I do the same.

It's not meant to be a console. It's meant to be a console friendly gaming PC, which will hopefully expand the PC market. If it didn't allow for anything other than the steam controller what would be the point. It would just be another console.

So lets just prevent steambox users from using Keyboard and Mouse so they get owned by people playing on a "normal" pc because they have Keyboard and Mouse.
