This PC you are talking about is not a console with the same specifications for every unit.

Each generation the gap has only grown farther apart. A case could have been made for the N64 and PC in 1996, but now it's not even close.

not even close

current gen pcs can run upwards of 16 gigs of ram, over 8 tbs of hard-drive space and can dual partition for work and gaming

current gen consoles....make a nice 600 dollar paper weight....

At best consoles can hit 1080p and 60fps.

Unless we're talking about budget PC builds then it's not even close to equal.

Not really, but it's pretty close.

Look at BF4 for example, corners had to be cut to deliver next gen graphics. With a decent pc you don't have to cut any corners and you have better image quality via AA and higher resolution along with better frame rate still.

Assassins creed 4 sacrificed frame rate
Killzone as well, either 1080p 30 fps or 720p 60hz in multiplayer.

Time will tell if console optimization will help or if the trend from last gen is continued where resolution/frame rate is sacrificed for better visual effects.

At least on pc you can have the cake and eat it too :D

They can barely even do that.

Its hard to tell at the moment. The graphical difference between BF4 on consoles and PC is really insignificant. Texture resolutions don't appear to be as noticeable as they used to.
I'm waiting to see if game developers and hardware manufactures are going to add any new features to software to separate the two platforms again like Physx and tress have done but less gimicky.

Something tells me you're a console gamer.
