1440p 60hz vs. 1080p 120hz. What say you?

Does it really matter? Is the fact that there are no available 120hz 1440p displays a reason to not make the jump and stick with 1080p gaming?

IMHO, resolutions above 1080p are kinda pointless unless you have a really big ass monitor.

Go with 120Hz.

As in an ASUS PB278Q 27-Inch? Which is what I'm targeting here.

I say try 120hz before you buy one. I personally can't tell the difference between 120hz and 60hz, and I spend $700 finding that out. If you can tell the difference get the 120hz if not the 1440p.

1440p 60hz. I would prefer the games to look as best as possible. Especially older titles. I can see the difference between 60 fps and 120 fps but it is only slight and I don't really care.

Would only really matter for competitive first person shooter games but having 0 or very low ping would make a bigger difference anyways.

To many drawbacks going with a tn panel to get 120hz

Again just my opinion, but I'd still go with 1080p. On my 31" TV the difference between 720p and 1080p is minuscule.

I call BS on this one. Even on a 22 inch monitor the difference between 720p and 1080p i huge.
