AMD v Intel/nVidia

You can't treat the FX line as a whole. Bulldozer was a failure. Piledriver is much better and works well in some situations. It's a decent CPU and not worth upgrading at the moment IMO.

So I'll wait till the next cpu's come out? And AMD or Intel? Also it worth at least upgrading the gpu for now to a 780?

The next CPUs won't come out for a while and we don't know how much better they'll be. Lately, the difference between desktop CPU generations has been tiny. As for upgrading to a 780, I suppose it could be worth it, if you're keen on maxing everything. I wouldn't waste 400$ just to get a slight visual upgrade in the few games that actually demand a high-end video card.

I'm running an FX 6300 and 7850 and getting better performance on MP BF3 than you.

Why would you go from a 6300 to a 8350?
Depending on the game, it could be anywhere from a 70% to a -30% difference.

I went from a 6100, bulldozer to a piledriver

And last time I came here people were always talking crap about AMD saying the whole FX line is disgustingly weak compared to the i5, now there's apparently no difference

There absolutely is, it's just fanboys for AMD who point to single player benchmarks, or utterly incompetent entities like TekSyndicate.

On that note, the 8350 should still get max settings in BF3 multiplayer. Your computer isn't performing so hot. Actually, it's performing miserably. I get 50-80FPS in BF3 with High settings and 2xMSAA with a 2500K and GTX 570 (both overclocked, though).

You should go into Steam and download 3DMark and run it, or alternatively, run Valley and tell us your scores.
