Is it worth it?

I've been looking at Amazon today for various deals gaming wise (still looking for that 3DS bundle deal) and I've come across a graphics card that seems to be in my price range but I'm not too sure how much better it is and if it'll run games like Guild Wars 2 better or not.

Something tells me my graphics card I have now is pretty outdated and I need a new one but I don't know if it would be a dramatic change to the games I play if I get this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Z3T5JC/ref=gb1h_img_c-3_8022_1a3dd6ce?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0VM1JGPVQSHFYTKMS22W&pf_rd_i=384082011&pf_rd_p=1673798022

From what I can remember about Guild Wars 2 was that I would need a better CPU instead of a graphics card. Some specs of my PC:

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3070MB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
Approx. Total Memory: 2286

Sorry for the wall of text but it's at $99 right now at 24% off and when it hits 1:40pm my time is when the deal will start and I'm hoping it'll take another $40-50 off and if it's worth it I'll prob get it. I've been needing an update for a long time lol. Thanks for any and all input.

If you want a 7750 then this one has 2GB of VRAM as opposed to the one you picked out that only has 1GB and it's only $63 after rebate and shipping:

The 7750 will be around twice as good as your 250. The 7750 is the best graphics card you can get without having to have an external power connector. Anything better would need a PCI express power connector from your power supply to give it extra power. If you have a pre-built computer then there's a slim to none chance your power supply will have one. So in short if you want anything better than a 7750 you'll have to replace your power supply if you have a pre-built computer.

Well I bought a new power supply when I got the 250 card a couple years ago so it's not like it's from the factory. Ok cool so then it would def be a good idea to get it if it gets the % off I need? Double the power does sound nice lol. Will it run GW2 better?

Ok it only took $20 off the price and was sold out in mins so that's not gonna happen. That one you suggested Jocko might happen just because of the Rebate. But I don't know yet. There is one other deal thats coming for graphics cards but I think this one is more than a little out of my range since it says used is around $350 lol.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008WAMV3Y/ref=gb1h_img_c-2_8082_4f90b3f3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=06BXAWZATNQZFWRNRGR5&pf_rd_i=7586091011&pf_rd_p=1678478082

That has to be light years ahead of mine for that price. I found another however I doubt its as strong as the one from amazon I was talking about earlier since its way cheaper.

I wasn't really interested in spending a good chunk of money today or this weekend but these Black Friday deals have got me interested now.

Your processor is pretty dated so I'm not sure how bad it will bottleneck Guild Wars 2 because I've never played it.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html

This article shows that Guild Wars 2 appears to be affected by your Graphics Card AND your CPU so even if you got a kick ass graphics card your CPU may be holding it back. So having said that I'm sure a new graphics card would help if all you want is at least a little boost.

After some research if you have a Geforce 250 then your power supply should have an external PCI power cable so you could go with a better graphics card than the 7750. However with the processor that your have I wouldn't go higher than a 7850 or 650 TI Boost. The best deal for a 7850 is $100 after rebate:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127663&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

If you want to go cheap with a good boost then go with the 7750.

Whoa! Yeah both of those are bad deals for you. The first one is a 7970 and it's WAY overkill for your computer. It would be like dropping a Ferrari engine into a 2003 Ford Escort :) The second card listed isn't really for gaming; it's more of a multimedia card made for basic computer tasks like playing high def videos.

If you want a VERY BASIC ranking of video cards and their performance than use this as a general guide:

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

And then if you want to start comparing cards directly than use these sites:

Guild Wars 2 needs a good GPU, but it is ultimately CPU-bound when it comes to performance. Given your older dual-core CPU and less than 4GB of RAM I would hold off and eventually buy a whole new machine - that GPU is going to be bottlenecked in general by your dual-core, and Guild Wars 2 in particular isn't going to run much better because of said CPU.

Gah! If only I had the money I'd get everything I need right now lol. I'm just on a tight budget till I can get a car and a better job. That 7750 sounds really good and if its gonna be that good a boost from my current one I might get it but idk. I've basically been coming into Black Friday sales for a 3DS deal and nothing for my PC because everything's so expensive ( to me at least)

But of course that deal I told you about came around so I was all hyped up about it but basically what my concern is, would it simply be safer to wait till I had the means and money buy a new CPU, or even a new PC (which now is out of the question lol) if I can't just replace my CPU, instead of buying the 7750?

Thanks for all the input however I'm very grateful for the help I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to PC's.

I'd say it's not worth replacing your CPU; you would have to replace your motherboard also. I would either get the $63 7750 or put together a whole new budget build later. If it's going to be over a year before you can afford a new computer then I'd get the 7750 to tide you over if not then I'd build a new one.
