  3. Girlfriend is interested in a tablet? (Thinking Surface 2)

Looking for advice on purchasing a tablet for an early Christmas present for the girlfriend. She is not very tech savvy at all, but is also very particular. She is very interested in the new Microsoft Surface 2 tablets with the keyboards and everything. Basically she wants a laptop in a tablet body.

She is not interested in Apple at all, does not use iPhones, iPods, or iPads. She also likes that the Surface has full Windows and Office included, which she said is far more important to her than having lots of apps to goof around with. Based on this the only one that I assume fits her build is the Surface 2, which is about $500, or a little more.

Is there any other tablets I should look into for her? Or just cave and drop the $500-600? Looking for advice since all I have ever owned is my built desktop and a Kindle Fire HD, which I'm completely satisfied with. . .

Do not invest in a girl friend, only wife or waifu. Never a girl friend.

I second the Dell Venue Pro 11. Windows RT is crap. Go with the full windows. I could suggest other things, but it's going to cost you.

Microsoft is ditching windows RT, so I would suggest that you don't buy a tablet with it.

Windows RT =/= Full Windows. Surface Pro is the only one worth getting at all, and even that is only really worth getting for an excessively fancy disposable income hybridish tab-top. Regular surface, because it only uses RT, is pretty much worthless. Better off with an iOS device at that point since you'll get about the same functionality but a billion more apps.

No, the Surface RT has tons more functionality than an iPad, it just lacks a diverse amount of apps.
