Is it better to use DosBox or a MS Dos virtual machine for gaming?

dosbox is far less of a pain in the ass than the real thing

Well that may be true for Dos games, but I never got Win 3.11 to work on DosBox. OTOH, it took me all of 10 minutes to set up a MS Dos virtual machine with Windows 3.11, so the "pain in the ass" part is over and done and I never have to do it again. So, which is better?

If I had to wager, to play DOS games.

Scary as it may be, PC gaming has existed for a while.

A few of us probably even remember what it was like to have to rewind a game.

Anyway, I usually just use DOSBox.

You can actually use a program for DOSbox which does the grunt work for you. Although I don't have it on my hard drive anymore since I reformatted it, it should be easy to google.

Still favor dosbox. Win 3.11 is just unnecessary crap if you're running dos native games

the idea here is to run games that require some version of windows before windows 95.
