Building my first PC

#1ViolentAbacusPosted 12/2/2013 6:19:03 PM
Since my pc needs a major upgrade, and I decided I midas well build my own on newegg, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, or if parts are any good, or if they're compatible and what-not.

Any tips or help you can give ~ And if I put what I'm trying to put into the thing will you tell me if it's any good or not? (I'll probably google stuff as I go)

Probably 750$~$1000. I'm not really wanting/expecting a high-end PC, but hopefully one that can play a lot of the games I play on medium settings with little to no lag, since right now with my current pc I have to play on low and there is still quite a bit of lag in a lot of games.

Yeah, probably.

Nope, the PC I have now runs on Windows Vista sadly.

Decent build but a 128GB SSD will not last long. You should add in a 500GB or 1TB HDD. You may even want to make it a 180 or 256 GB SSD. I have a 128 and can already feel the strain of a lack of OS space.

You can also cheapen a bit on the CPU cooler. I doubt he will be overclocking it that much.

Case can be changed to pretty much whatever you want to give your rig some personality.

Personally I would go with 2x8 GB of RAM. Sure you don't need more than 8 GB at the moment but to make it future proof and still using dual channel and not having to rebuy 4 RAM to max it at 32 GB.

DVD drive and OS is not included. Many first time builders don't tell us if they already have it. It is actually important as an OS is $100.
