Even ignoring size and weight(because, hey, there were some pretty big handhelds back in the day) it just doesn't feel like a handheld at all, or even a game console. Maybe original Xbox, but even that's pushing it. This thing feels like, for lack of a better term, enthusiast grade hardware. Like, the kind of thing you put next to an Ivy Bridge-E build with a $500 motherboard, 64GB of RAM, a pair of high end graphics cards, and stuffed in a $300+ case with an 80+ gold seasonic PSU and a $500GB+ SSD.

I **** you not, calling this thing a handheld game system at all just feels wrong.

What's the audiophile equivalent to handheld gaming enthusiasm? Because I almost feel like my (beautiful) A700x isn't worthy of being plugged into such a premium device.

The shield is an awesome product. It has a good heft but not in a bad way, it feels truly solid. The battery life makes my tablets look bad. Amazing performance on any emulate system up to n64 and psx with full mapping of every button. I have found myself playing OoT and MM on the n64 more than I have steamed which also works extremely well for the majority of controller enabled games.

Everyone trying to be negative are making themselves look foolish by talking without having tried it.

Yup, you got me. I'm a complete and total fanboy. Have been ever since having a gameboy pocket.
I just like having something in my hands, you know? Desktops and consoles are fun and all, but handhelds are for me. I'll be a handheld fanboy 'til the day I die, probably.

Sold me... Wasn't sure what I wanted to get for myself at xmas but household streaming does sound like it might open up some new opportunities. Might even dust off my elliptical machine while playing some games.

I'm mostly interested in the fully fledged streaming. Does it work well and have you had much latency? What router and gpu do you use? Do you have to set the game up in 720p first?
