So I've been poking around on OCN, and apparently digital currency just went mainstream (i.e. on the news, on TV) so the masses have been buying these cards up. LTC and possibly FTC is the way to go if you're looking to make a profit.

How pointless...
It's like the California gold rush...

You ain't panning anything worth squat unless you got in early..
Now you got nothing but dirt left...

Now the guys that really make money is the guys selling mining supplies.

(jeans, shovels, hats, clothes, food to miners) => (graphics cards....soda?... banks/bitcoin exchangers....whatever else there is/ will be)

Could somebody explain something to me? I understand the desire for Radeon cards. They're good bitcoin miners. But why are people paying so much for HD 7000 series on Ebay? Why not just get R9 series for cheaper?

because bitcoins have exploded in price, went from $3 a bitcoin selling, to $200, and now its up to $1200... and most economists think it will only get bigger. its limited - like gold - eventually bitcoins will be gone so its value is more precious like gold and not currency that can be printed as much as a government wants.

Yeah, I understood that part of it, but I just wasn't sure why used HD 7000 series was so desired when most of the new cards are basically just modified versions of the HD 7000. Are they sold out everywhere? Or are the R9 series not as good at Bitcoin mining?

Asking the same question in my head.
