Need help with a ~$1500 build

#1deadlyforcemanPosted 12/5/2013 7:03:39 PM
I'm putting together a build that will be used for gaming and video editing. Budget is ~$1500, give or take $500.

I do not need a monitor or OS.

This is my current parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/deadlyforceman03/saved/340f

I'm not sure how to pick a motherboard anymore...or a sound card

I'm also completely out of the loop on GPUs, mechanical keyboards, and mice. I recently purchased a 27" 1920x1080 monitor, and also hook my PC up to my 1080p TV for media and games.

For a keyboard I would like it to be mechanical, preferably with keys that light up. Duckyshine maybe?

I also don't know anything. Everything on this list aside from the 4770k is pretty much picked from builds around here.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Do you live near a microcenter? It would help out alot in the price of your CPU and MOBO. So you can get better things such as a better SSD and PSU.

I do, and MicroCenter is in my list on PC Part Picker, but I guess I didn't pick the right mobo to catch the deal.

Okay. The 4770K I believe is 250. Also I recommend getting this SSD as it is on sale as well.

I would also spend a but more money and get the HX or TX series of Corsair PSUs. They are a bit higher quality than the CXs although there is nothing wrong with the CX series.

Also, Newegg was having their cyber monday deals all week. And the Gskill Sniper 1600mhz 2x4gb sticks were on sale for 50 bucks, so you would end up saving 50 bucks total for 16gb. Don't know if that is still available or not.

I wouldn't rely on pcpartpicker to create the discount for you automatically, that's something you'd have to adjust manually or keep in mind when looking over the actual price of the build

Are you going to need a Thunderbolt (2.0) port?

If you get Fatal1ty Killer or Extreme4 motherboard, it already come with better onboard sound than that soundcard you pick.

I honestly don't know what Thunderbolt is so I'll say no lol. Is that Apple? If so then no, we don't own any Apple products.

I would like USB 3.0 on the case, and I will be picking up a USB 3.0 PCI expansion card.

My current PC is a C2D E8400 and a 4850, I'm hoping to a little bit better this time around as far as longevity.

I will look into those motherboards, any particular one you would suggest?
