What to do with crap laptop?

#1TrueKuPosted 12/8/2013 1:30:55 AM
I have a 2 year old HP laptop that was a horrible purchase

bought it for $330.

Should I try to sell it or part it out somehow?

320GB
4GB ram
Pentium P6200

Battery lasts about an hour on charge.

Wifi card is damaged
Wifi antenna is damaged.
=> So I use a USB wifi Dongle

How much could I get for it?

Use it to play old games that do not run well on a new computer. I use my old non-gaming laptop to run Warcraft 1 and 2, Diablo, Diablo 2, etc. They just run really well on my older laptop compared to my new one.

Why not use VMware and an old version of Windows?

And @TC, put it in the garage or something and use it as a space heater with a funky screensaver. Or just break it open and have fun poking around at the electronics for a while.

It's not a horrible laptop. I'd give it to a relative/friend who doesn't have a decent computer.

I bought a crappy laptop specifically for 'high risk' browsing (read: mostly porn). As little as I paid for it I feel it was worth the cost for the ease of mind it has provided. There's no 'Ehhhh I shouldn't click that' which has led to it coming down with problems that I get asked to fix for other people from time to time so it's a bit of a learning experience, you don't realize how much simpler being halfway selective with what you click is vs just frolicking through the wide open fields of the net with reckless abandon.

Honestly I am just too lazy to go the VMware route. I could and probably will if the old laptop dies, but atm I also use it as my netflix computer running on the desk beside my new laptop so if I want to play an older game I just have to look at the other computer.
