Do steam trading cards sync with already existing save files?

I know this has probably been addressed time and time before, but I have a lot of games with a lot of achievements and a lot of time spent playing them in my library but all of them were saved before the introduction of trading cards, so would Steam recognize this and give me the designated cards accordingly? Or would I have to replay everything again?

I don't know because I don't have a gaming PC at this time.

Steam Trading cards are awarded as you play the game (or idle at a menu or launcher), and aren't retroactive.
Could be worse, they could have been American givers and you would have been smothered in small pox. -fakenamefignuts on Indian-Giving.

trading cards only require you to have the game open. your non-gaming PC should let you idle at the menu if it's that important to you.

You get a set amount of cards for just having the game open (and after those, from randomly distributed booster packs), nothing else.
It's not retroactive, but all you have to do is open the game and let it run for an hour or two, that's it.
Wait... what?
