G400 or G500?

#1NotQuiteAFreakPosted 12/8/2013 11:56:27 AM
So I've mostly been hearing that the G400 is overall better than the G500... But... Honestly I don't like the look of the G400, or atleast this model of it:

All those squishy rubbery looking buttons, oh and that colour, belch! So I ask just how much better is the G400 than the G500? Is it worth sacrificing the performance it for aesthetic purposes, or is the costs not so great? Btw this is the G500 I'm looking at.

G400 has a better sensor for FPS gaming.

the blue in those pictures is much darker in reality
I didn't like it either, but it looks much nicer than it does there

check out the Zowie EC1 evo instead if you don't want the G400. It also has a top tier sensor and has a sleeker look

I have the G400 and I love it. Perfect mouse for me and none of that fancy crap or too many buttons

I just bought a G400s after my G500 started double clicking.

They're really not that much different. I'm not a FPS player, so the accuracy thing isn't noticeable for me. The G500 worked perfectly.

So far it's the same mouse to me other than the scroll wheel which has a different shape, but works well. It doesn't have the free scroll mode which I hated at first with the G500, but learned to love. And it's missing that third button on the side, which I never used anyway. I like the two side buttons of the 400 better. It doesn't have the weights either, but I never used those.

Unless you're a freak of an FPS player and have to have the absolute flawless precision, the G500s will be great. It's just a matter of whether you care about those other features for the extra money.

Oh, and the G400s color really doesn't look like that in the picture. It is darker, looks really nice. Besides, your hand is covering it when you use it anyway.

I would go for the G400

-The G500 is a very heavy mouse (you can add even more weights though I am not sure who would want to)
-The sensor of the G500 is not centered.
-The scroll-wheel on the G500 is a wobbly mess because of the side-scroll and free-scroll functions, which work great on general consumer mice like the MX Revolution, but has no business being on a gaming mouse.
-The G400 has a superior sensor.

Personally I do not like the shape of the logitech gaming mice all that much, but most people do.

Is that scroll wheel similar to the one on the Microsoft Mouse 5000's? Because I hated that scroll wheel with a passion...

I put extra weights in my g500 lol... I like it to be front heavy. Love heavier mice.

My scroll wheel isn't a "wobbly mess"...It doesnt move side to side unless i make it move side to side.

The sensor does leave a bit to be desired though. I have gotten used to it though.
