Even SimCity was better than this poor excuse for a game.

Dota 2 was fully released this year and is A. The best competitive and most rewarding multiplayer experience ive ever had, B. Insanely popular to the masses C. Had a fan donated prize pool for the International of like $3 million. and Valve makes it so it's polished to all hell.

PC doesn't have good exclusives (it's mostly low-budget yoge kusoge) so this is the winner it deserves.

Eroge and doujin are like its only saving grace, TBQH.

I played through gone home and saw nothing particularly great about it.

Then again I am
a) Straight
b) Male
c) not a "90s kid"

So absolutely nothing about the game had any impact for me.

I thought the whole house was really boring and just going through the effort to get all the pieces of the story wasn't worth it because I had no emotional investment in the ending. I didn't care who was where with whom and why or anything. If it hadn't have been a gift I wouldn't have played it at all (and I kinda feel bad for saying it because it WAS a gift).

As bad/cliche as parts of Bioshock Infinite were, I'd have given that the game of the year over Gone Home...or like someone else said, Kerbal space program.

Gone home was a 3 hour adventure game with almost no adventure in it.

Infinite maybe, but it already won best shooter. Kerbal Space Program is still in alpha and not officially released yet...

It's not hard to understand. It won because there's not exactly big competition. Pretty poor year for PC games.
