Can someone help me with a mouse pad problem

#1Solid Snake07Posted 12/8/2013 9:10:39 PM
i just got a new laptop day before yesterday and today the mouse touchpad stopped working.

So i went to my device manager to make sure it didn't get disabled somehow. I see that it's enabled but under device status it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I updated the system this morning so i'm thinking there must be a problem with the driver? but i don't really know how i would go about fixing it.

Any help is much appreciated

oh and the touchpad is a synaptics SMBus clickpad

Check and see if it disabled in the BIOS?

You should try to get the drivers from the manufacturer web site and install them.

If not, un-install/re-intall the drivers and see if that works.

Download the drivers from he laptops website.
Uninstall drivers from control panel
reboot
install drivers

I was unaware that a small piece of plastic/foam/whatever could stop working.

You shouldn't be using a touch pad anyway. I keep mine disabled at all times when I'm using my laptop.
