I have some minor gripes about it, but I still use it and have no major complaints... it works, it's faster than 7, it does basically everything 7 could, so what would need improved?

If Windows 8 didn't exist Microsoft wouldn't have spent the billion dollars developing it. Sounds like it would have been a nice profit for them.

They can always release windows 9 which is basically windows 8 but with the classic start menu back. It will be a hit like windows 7 lol.

The start screen. I'm using 8.1 and everything is superior to 7 except for the start screen. In 7, when you click it, the start screen pops up instantly and doesn't take much space. In 8, you always have to see the animation and it takes the whole screen. Yeah, the animation takes like a fraction of a second, but it adds up. Not only that, but the apps are useless. Why does it take the whole screen and is separate from the desktop? Why can't I have skype on the desktop by default? It feels exactly like a tablet OS and traditional windows combined. Windows 8 would be so much more popular than windows 7 if there was no metro. It's a shame too.

I think the only thing that will save Windows 8 is Microsoft coming out with Windows 9. Windows 8 is horrible in my opinion.

How is it faster than 7? There is no speed difference at all. In fact Windows 8 feels slower, this is especially true on netbooks and cheap laptops.

Windows 9 will be worse. Hopefully by then consumers will catch on to Microsoft's monopoly, and consumers will abandon Windows 9 completely.

1. Allow a choice between the classic start menu and the full screen start menu
2. Put all those Charm settings in Control Panel so you don't have to switch paradigms to change some settings.
3. Officially support having the user profile directory on a HDD when the OS is on a SSD and allow people who have done so to install service packs without breaking Windows.
