Oblivion won't start?

#1dlfPosted 12/9/2013 10:56:43 PM
Regardless of how I start the game, the launcher works perfectly and as it should, clicking black I may get a split second blackscreen, and If lucky start to see the start of the Bethesda intro. GOTY (from Steam), no mods, all the DLC checked and unchecked as well, ran the verify cache. Idea? Sure I've gotten it to run on this system before. Morrowind and Skyrim run without issue. Should mention, no error message, just thrown out if I can even get the start of the intro.

Try uninstalling & re-installing.

If it does not work, enjoy pretending you don't realize why PC gaming is in decline.

You do realize that PC game software revenue has been outpacing the consoles game software revenue combined in 2011/2012? PC gaming has never been as good money wise as it is right now ever.

Deleting and redownloading does nothing, Verify cache does nothing, all files validate.

Hardware specs please.

I'm sure you meant the minimums but both AMD and nVIdia try to guess driver setting and seem to often mess it up, knowing which you have might help.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processo
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Full (64bit)

I should probably exceed the specs for Skyrim, if not some recent games as well.

Try getting rid of the AMD profiles.

Also, oblivion does have some odd crash errors. There are mods to fix them.

I got one that makes your computer ding every time it stops a crash error. Sometimes I can walk through town and hear it dinging away as it stops crashes.

One thing you should try is deleting the Oblivion folder from C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\ directory. Every time I re-install I forget this and it always leads to a CTD.

I want console peasants to leave. This has less to do with PC gaming and more to do with every Bethesda game being a buggy unstable pile of garbage.

PC gaming is more successful now than ever before. Go away. Console trolls aren't welcome here.
