it's seriously boggling my mind. i've seen videos/read things from people using cards with 1-2gb worth of vram and running all these mods just fine with steady framerates at 1080p. i'm running maybe 30 or 40 mods with probably 10-15 graphics mods using a 670 2gb and it almost instantly maxes that out, causing fps drops into the 10 range a lot of the time, and occasional CTD. but on the other hand i've read people who have it gobbling up the vram of their 4gb cards. what gives? what sorcery are they using? lies? share with me the secrets of getting this stuff to work, please. i'm enjoying this game soooo much more with mods than when i played vanilla, and i want to continue to, but i'm afraid i'll have to uninstall some of the ones that are making it so awesome in order to get it to play smoothly.

Boss, Wrye Bash, TES5edit, common sense.

i've used those extensively. tes5edit doens't give me any errors, BOSS says my mods are in best load order, and all are cleaned all the ones needing cleaning through tes5edit. i am using NMM for the mods, is wrye bash that much better? i only used it for morrowind way back when and don't really remember much about it

Wrye Bash is used to help alleviate common conflicts between mods such as leveled lists and whatnot. And on that note some mods are just inherently broken and cause crashing.

My brother has the same problems as you, he gets a lot of CTD with like 60 mods.

wb helped me get rid of one mod, and it seemed to help performance a little. fps are more slightly more steady now. still experiencing some slow down and a ctd occasionally, but it's better than what i had before, so i'll stick with it i guess. thanks for the help.

I'm running 45-50 or so, mostly graphics mods, without any real issues. It's only dropped badly in a couple of basement areas thus far. It's interesting that you're having issues.

People don't run mods in skyrim. They install them, get to the loading screen, get bored and install more mods, repeat ad infinitum.

I have somewhere around 230. It's all about which mods they are, and I use Skyrim Mods Complex Optimizer.
