I want to buy it from Steam. Not sure if it can handle it though. If it can't, how about do I get it to?

Post your PC specs and someone will tell you if it will run it well.

I feel so stupid but I don't know how to check my specs. Crazy, right? I know that my PC can handle Portal, but Skyrim is newer. I am running Windows 7. Sorry for the extremely stupid and newbish question.

go to the display tab and paste the info.

although i'm just gonna go ahead and guess it's a prebuilt with crappy integrated gpu.

the good news is that you have a very strong base for getting it up to date in order to play all games out on decently high settings.

PC hardware doesn't need to match console hardware in price when PC gamers save literal thousands from the software they buy.

That site is useless. Told me I couldn't run skyrim. Maxed it. Told me I could run BF3 great. I had windows XP at the time. (Which means I couldn't play it because BF3 is DX11 exclusive)
