Is the steam controller even out? Because I will admit, I am extremely curious about how it works. I'd buy one just to satisfy that curiosity.

Have a wired Xbox 360 controller. Works pretty well. Not sure why you would want to spend the extra money on the newer controllers.

Difference of ~10 dollars, little more for XB1/360. Better/newer tech/design choices behind them.

Also, thanks. I think I'll go with the PS4 controller then, plus I like fighters and the PS controllers have always been a bit better due to the dpad.

Don't get a PS4 controller until there is a 360 controller emulator for it.

Bought a PS4 controller last week for PC because of this:

Touchpad, rumble, everything works flawlessly. No brainer imo

Get a wired 360 controller. Windows supports it and most games are programmed with it in mind as the standard. Anything else and you'll probably end up needing to find a program that supports whatever controller you end up with and then need to reconfigure it for every game.

this is the controller I've used for a long time, great functionality for the cost and it mimics an Xbox 360 controller so games like Skyrim which will only identify a 360 controller as compatible will use it without the need for a convoluted third party program setup
