There's definitely a problem with aiming in the game. I'm also having the same problem with planetside 2.

Have you tried turning on raw mouse input in the in-game settings?

yes for both games

Then I don't think it's a KB2908279 problem.

That problem only affects games that don't use the rawinput API. Newer games with the raw input option use that API, like BF4. So it's a different problem.

What DPI setting are you running in Windows 8.1? I suspect the problem you're having is not caused by the issue described in KB2908279 since raw mouse input does not fix it. If you're not running at a scaled DPI then your issue is definitely not related to KB2908279. I know because I play BF4 on Windows 8.1 and there are no mouse issues.

Also are you using a wireless/bluetooth mouse?

The stupid's kicked in, you mean the mouse dpi or the display size setting thing? My mouse (Logitech g300, by the way) is set to 800 right now, the screen is at 100%. Or the first tick on the slider.

Also are you using a wireless/bluetooth mouse?

Wired.

I meant display size DPI. So since you're at 100% that pretty much confirms the problem is not due to KB2908279.

Is v-sync off? Have you tried applying MarkC's mouse acceleration fix for Windows 8? Drivers up to date? And if all else fails I guess try a different DPI for your mouse

Don't know if WIndows 8 has the same issue, but on Windows 7 I have had to set the # of cpu cores in msconfig. Also without doing this, my i7-4770k wouldn't show all eight threads with hyperthreading enabled.

Is anything overclocked? What drivers are you using? And have you tested your RAM?

Your PC shouldn't be BSODing just because of BF4, there's a bigger problem here
