I need a question answered about the controls in Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

I see here on the Steam store that this game is not compatible with a gamepad. This is a problem for me. How well would something like Xpadder work with it? I need to know because to me, there are two kinds of non gamepad - compatible PC games. There's games that are simple enough to work with Xpadder and the like, and then there's **** like KOTOR and Mass Effect, which are essentially unplayable with Xpadder.

Is DMMM part of the former or the latter? Thank you kindly.

I've only played it a little and it's been quite a while, but I think that the game is just not geared to gamepads at all. I wouldn't bank on using xpadder to make it controller friendly...but again, it's been like a year or two since I played it and I remember the controls as being more of a "third person style" for mouse and keyboard.

DMMM is a 3rd person action shooter style. I never use gamepads for those games...so I have no idea if Xpadder will work. However, the game is not conducive to a gamepad.

It's been a while.... so yeah, I guess it is first person, but I still don't think the controls are very well suited to something like Xpadder.

There's a game demo so try it. If it works with xpadder then you're good to go.

I've played Dark Messiah using a controller, but I don't remember if I messed around with some INI file or if I used something like Xpadder. I've done it from start to finish so it's doable, but I don't remember it being a very good experience. The lack of auto aim made using the bow nearly impossible for me. When fighting with melee weapons it wasn't so bad. I would say the game is playable with a controller unless you decide to opt for purely ranged attacks.

Dude, just play it with a KB+M setup. Aiming with a gamepad is a pain in the neck.

95% of the game is kicking unsuspecting nonhumans off ledges or into spikes, sooooooo yeah. Gamepad it up.

I played it on the 360 so I'm not sure why you can't use a game pad.
