Wait for R9 280X or buy a 770.?

Sold my 7950 on amazon for $420 and I need a decent replacement.

Was considering the EVGA SC 770 for $349 on Amazon but then some store called B&H Has the ASUS/MSI R9 280x's for cheap but backordered...what should I go with in my case?

Build info is in the sig. I also sold the PSU and kept my seasonic S12II 520W. My limit for both a new PSU8(If applicable)and A GPU is $420.

I vote 770 and keep the PSU you should be fine. I'd go with the lightning though.

Just out of curiosity, why not go for 290, if you're gonna wait for the 280x?

at the moment the 290s have reference design coolers. Unless I see a non reference cooler that I like for a price that I can agree upon, I see no point IMHO.

I agree with that but wouldn't it be better to wait then? Apparently non reference coolers should be out by the end of this month. Wouldn't you rather settle for like a 780 or 290 instead of cards that are technically just slightly updated models of the last releases?

So you'd rather buy a much weaker gpu just for the sake of the cooler? Mkay

R9 290 and 290X non-reference are beginning to crawl out of the woodworks. Some got it already, I believe the Asus one is out.

I wouldn't mind waiting in all honesty. If I can get better bang for my buck? So be it. Just have to wait and see what's offered.
