Microsoft Considering Its Own Gaming PC?
At a meeting of 500 directors and above, [Steve Ballmer] talked about Windows 8 and its failures. In another, he spoke of creating gamer-focused PCs, as if he had years to go in his tenure. In another, he apparently cried at the prospect that there would be no more years.

They had their chance with Windows Live and they utterly destroyed any kind of consumer confidence in their ability to offer a gamer-focused platform at every single turn.
PC Gamers are more leery of Microsoft than ever, the casual market is console and mobile-focused, and I'm pretty sure that the XBox division has been losing money for a while....trying to offer more hardware would be suicidal. I don't see it happening.

Just release your god damn 1st party games on PC consistently and build up some equity back with the pc gaming community.
Releasing Halo/Forza/Gears of War/Dead Rising on PC isn't going to freaking destroy your Xbox sales.
