Chess isn't an olympic sport, however it is recognized as a sport by the IOC.

I'm not saying their word is final, but it has weight.

Wrestling isn't an Olympic sport anymore either.

Nor baseball for that matter. They were pretty close to ending softball until China beat the US in Beijing (IIRC)

Japan beat the US in Beijing, not China. Also it was still eliminated for 2012 and 2016 because of the US dominance over the sport.

Do esports players get to take (at least) one of these

Back to a place like this

?

If not, then no, it isn't a real sport.

I think the implication here is that there are no hot girls associated with gaming, and that it doesn't exactly make you rich. Well,

and top players can easily draw 6 figures in just one event, so technically, they *could* have houses like that too. I guess based on that criteria, e-sports qualifies then?

The gamers don't get to bring those girls home. Probably because they're not athletes, they're wannabes.

In South Korea they do.

They probably get to sleep with nerdy Korean fan girls, but not booth girls/celebs/daughters of members of high society.

Wrong. It's that the girls associated with gaming make money because they're girls associated with gaming. *Not* girls associated with nailing pro-gamers.

Winning six-figures at a contest every now and then is *not* going to get someone a palace (which you cutely referred to as a "house"). High earning athletes make *millions* every year, and when locked into a long-term contract, they can go on losing streaks and still make that money anyway.

Nope.

Some of these arguments are in the top 10 most ridiculous that i've seen on GameFAQs... that's really really saying something.

I've never said this before (Honestly)... but some of you sound like sad 14 year old virgins.
