Built brand new computer, went to plug in hdmi cable to tv and getting black screen. No monitor to test other ports. Does the hdmi port work out of the box or do i need to install drivers first ? Using amd 6670 gpu

What's the resolution of the tv? I did a build for a friend and he only had a cheap 27" 720p display. Nothing would show up, just a black screen. I was worried but when I brought it home and hooked it up to my monitor it came right up. Hopefully it's something simple. Oh btw are you getting a post beep?

Did you plug the cable into the HDMI port on the motherboard or the HDMI port on the graphics card?
You should plug the HDMI cable into the graphics card.

If the above isn't the issue, unplug and replug in the cable. I sometimes get a black screen when I hook up my laptop to the TV. Simply unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it.
