Best way to steam sale efficiently?

Pretty much what everyone else said, but there are a couple exceptions:

Sometimes there are pricing errors or hidden deals. Pay attention to forums dedicated to Steam or getting PC games for cheap to have the latest news on these sales. Also, keep an eye on the best sellers list on Steam.

I remember Psychonauts was 75% off at one point over the summer, but it wasn't a special deal. The Fallout Collection was also 80%/90% off at one point.

Amazon has some good deals too.

Yup and they'll price match any sale plus you get a $5 credit per purchase to use in Jan.

From Reddit...
"Tvacgamer Amazon Marketing Manager

FYI, Amazon will be matching these deals. Currently working on doing so now.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Edit:

In addition to Price Matching these deals, ANY paid digital game you buy from Amazon.com (so no demos, even if they are erroneously $0.01), you'll get a $5 credit to use in January on specific titles.

We're still finalizing the title list for January but we've done this for 2 years now and we always see HUGE redemption on the coupons and anecdotally I hear more, "Man I wish I would have bought more in November/December to get more coupons" than "man I have all these coupons left over".

Further clarity. you can buy multiple games to get multiple credits, but they don't stack, so, if you buy 10 games in November/December, you'll get 10 $5 credits, but you have to use them on 10 individual purchases, not 1 for $50 off.

Cheers, Tony

an example of a pricing error would be the bioshock infinite season pass going on sale for 5 dollars. Managed to grab it for that price, told my friend about it and when he went on it was already back to 20.

Colonial Marines is actually 2 dollars on amazon right now. For me personally it was a pain playing it on my friends console but for 2 dollars some might be interested.

Arkham Origins is on it's daily deal so the season pass will be as cheap as it's going to be. The other games I would wait to see, at least wait until January 1st and if they don't get any cheaper then just buy them as they are. Just make sure you have the games wishlisted so you get an email when they get even cheaper.
