You know, I've always wondered why most Windows have lower normalized battery life than Macbooks. There are some, like that one Sony Vaio that have normalized battery life on par with Macbooks, so I really doubt it's the OS that's making a huge difference (though perhaps it makes a small difference).

I guess Windows laptops tend to use more power-hungry accessory components

What's so different about it?

Build quality. Premium feel that you won't find anywhere else in a laptop.

Except absolutely terrible specs for $2,000

If you only care about pure specs, perhaps... but if you want a slim, lightweight object with a gorgeous screen and long battery life, all of which are valuable features for some people, then suddenly the Retina MBP's competition shrinks to single digits and the prices aren't so wildly different. Then at that point you have to consider things like the Mac trackpad, which is still better than the competition, or consider the fact that some people need or want Mac OS X, which is a nice OS anyway (and you can still dual boot Windows if you want!), etc.

So what do you guys do with your Macbooks? Just stare at the wallpaper all day, moving the cursor around in circles?
