Help with new computer's video output please

#1LordOfLegaciesPosted 12/20/2013 12:23:55 AM
GTX 780
MSI 787 G45
16 gigs RAM
i5 quad core @ 3.4ghz

I'm not getting any video output at all. I tried it on a 1080p monitor earlier at another person's house using the HDMI slot on the video card itself and it worked just fine. Right now I'm trying to use my Sony Playstation 3D monitor (not set to 3D mode, just HDMI1) and I'm not getting any video output at all.
I've tried resetting the video card with no luck.
I just built the computer today and it doesn't even have an OS installed on it yet. Please help me.

It worked on another monitor and it worked.

And you're trying to use your monirot at home, with the same port, and it doesn't?

Sounds like it's the monitor. Try hooking it to your TV maybe?

I'll give that a try. But I've never had a problem with the monitor before though, I just plugged my PS3 into it and it worked fine. Will report back with results...

My normal TV works fine for it, still can't for the life of me figure out why the monitor isn't working. Just to be safe, it's this one here that I'm using:

Yeah I'm using the same port, it's working fine on my normal tv. I'm gonna go ahead and get the OS and drivers installed before I worry more about the monitor but ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Oh damn, you got a 3D sony monitor. Those things are nothing but trouble.

My cousin went through 2 of them in a few months. And Sony is a pain to deal with.

I'm hoping it's something silly like a loose HDMI cable or port that you have to fiddle with, for your sake. But you might want to dig out your warranty information.

If you get signal when using another monitor then it's obviously not the card.

My guess would be the monitor

Wait a second here.

How do you even know the computer is built right? You know if it says no signal, it could be almost anything wrong. Have you ever successfully booted this new computer?
