How are transistors shrunken?

#1TrueKuPosted 12/20/2013 10:45:19 PM
And how do they know they'll be able to shrink them..??

Like, there's a timeline of when we'll reach x nm, y nm, z nm....

How do they do they? Why can't we just go from x to z, making a jump in shrink??

Ahhh..... you do this thing like 2D planar flip over double twist into a treehouse to get Tree-Dee planar technology over float the silicon oxide bridge into a hefnium oxide bridge to dingle the node into shrinking like a raisin

and that's how processor work.

Wrong.

Dude, I thought Intel were smart people

Those are guys soo..... dumb!!!!!!!!!!

3D transistors were invented in 1999 by is chinese guy probably while he was cooking egg foo yung, embarassing American finest scientists in his sleep.

Then Intel takes credit for it.

Haswell is 1999 technology...

And he only guys this worthless bag of flowers today for making Intel trillion of dollars..

Honey I shrunk the transistors.

As transistors get smaller, physical problems arise that have to be overcome. I think leakage current is the major one. Over time, transistors have gotten more complex at the same time that they're getting smaller. It just takes time to develop transistors that can work at smaller scales.
