I went with a 290 when they were at $400 from a GTX570 and I'm very happy with it so far. --- http://i.imgur.com/XqIF7rn.gif

I also noticed that the 290x's gave 4gb of memory or power whilst the 780ti has 3gb. What does this mean?
Some games need more video memory than others. If you play in high enough resolutions, you might need more than 2GB. --- god invented extension cords. -elchris79

290x is worth it at $550 (original msrp) 290 non-x was a STEAL at $400 (original msrp)
but anything over i wouldnt pay more than $600 for a non-reference cooled 290x and more than $500 for a non-reference cooled 290. --- Xbox Live Gamertag: VegetarianEater "This is very heavy, and this, may I remind you, is on fire." -Moony (Moony and Broon Show)

Damn micro stuttering now for a single card?? I would love to have my gtx 780 in sli and I certainly would benefit from it but we really need to fix this micro stuttering issue in the coming years geez. --- Combo Master
