So it's basically because the game isnt optimized for a retina display yet., correct?

If i downloaded it, there would be a way within the game to adjust my display for the optimal settings, or would i have to adjust my display settings and THEN try the game?

No, it will never be "optimized" for a Retina display. You have to think of it in simpler terms.
The laptop you have has a display with a resolution of 2560x1600. That's a high, demanding resolution to run games at even for a high-end desktop, whereas your laptop has no dedicated video card. Intel HD 5100 is pretty good for what it is, but it will not run The Witcher 2 -- or most games, for that matter -- well at all at 2560x1600. Now if you were to set the resolution to 1280x800, it would run somewhat better, but it's still a very demanding game for a laptop without a dedicated video card. No amount of optimization will fix this, in fact it really has nothing to do with optimization.

Thanks for the detailed explanations guys. I'm a console gamer, and am just trying to find a couple of PC games to get my gaming fix while I'm here at my A-school for the Navy, until I can bring my TV and PS3 down, or buy a new console down here.

I've never been a big PC gamer, and I bought the Macbook for reasons other than gaming but figured I'd try my luck at what few games COULD be played on it.

The only other game I'm looking at, that isn't on the App store and optimized for Macs, is LOTR online, maybe League of Legends, or any other MMORPG.

Any tips for those guys?

LoL has a Mac client. You don't have to get everything from the App Store you know...

Oh I'm aware haha..most of their games are overpriced anyways. The only ones I got were SW: KOTOR and Doom 3, since they were on sale and I'd never played either.

Other than those, I doubt I buy any other one, except maybe Telltale's new TWD Season 2 addition.

Trying to find a good addictive online RPG though, but without getting into the WoW realm, because I here youre done for after you start that haha. I still have a job to do lol

It's able to play plenty of games decently, just I wouldn't expect Witcher 2 to run well.
