Is the Radeon R9 280X more powerful than a PS4?

I'm getting one next month and was curious if it is or not.

Hot as the R9 gets, could definitely melt the PS4.

Apparently the 290X is the only one that gets really hot?

They both hit 94

Just crank up fan profile to ungodly levels but still hot enough to probably melt a PS4

Edit: I suggest getting a non reference model 290 with better fans, the reviews of the ones I have seen are much much cooler.

From the brief skim of google, it seems the R9 280X is around about the same as the PS4.

r9 280x is like twice the power of whats in the PS4. Also it doesn't run hot. It's the R9 290 and 290x(reference versions) that run hot and loud

Around the same what, price? If so, yeah. But power-wise definitely not. It's a 7970 to the PS4's 7970m. It's closer to a 7850 than it is the 280x.

Yawn. At 55% my 290x never goes above 80c under max load even in crossfire.
