So, my laptop has been broken for about a year now, and it was what I used to.. well, you know.
Anyway, since it's broken and I'm moving soon, I don't want to bring the laptop with me, so I'm leaving it behind. I don't want my folks to fix it, then end up finding my stash.
What can I do? --- http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/Tyranius

Holding a magnet where the HDD is should pretty much destroy it. --- Gamertag : Steel Hunter NNID : SteelHunter PSN Firegor

Just take out the hdd and keep it. You might be able to sell the broken laptop on craigslist.

Iv got a question. If i want to sell my computer, will formatting the hard drive and then reinstalling windows wipe all the porn and personal stuff on the drive? Or I have to use some software to overwrite the drive with blank data to get fully get rid of the stuff? --- GG Riot http://i.imgur.com/Hs8Y1vQ.png

A format + Reinstall won't allow people to easily access the old data. Old data will still be accessible if someone wants to try data recovery, though. Zeroing out a drive will wipe all the free space.
In general if I just want to clean up a drive to reuse for my own purposes, I'll just do a quick format. If I'm going to be handing the drive off to someone else (friend, family, sell on Cragislist, etc) I'll DBAN it. --- Man your own jackhammer Man your battlestations

If you're just concerned about wiping it for re-use, simply slave it and format from another machine. If you want it destroyed, magnetize it then scrape the disc clean. --- http://www.facebook.com/noz3r0 Prolific Contributor: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/32351.html

DBAN will take care of it, unless you want to physically destroy it. --- Oakland Raiders 2013: 4-8 | THE Ohio State: 12-1 Oda break tracker 2013- 9 (3)
