It's something I haven't ever really understood, what is the point? I know the snowglobe things can give a item in a F2P game when crafted, but I just randomly looked through my cards, sold some doubles and I'm upto 58 cents in my steam wallet (I normally just pay with my credit card).
Can someone explain the idea behind them? --- XBOX 360 GT: Invghost Not looking forward to any games now.

You can use the cards to craft badges which give Steam EXP, which in turn give Steam levels. Steam levels give benefits such as extra showcases and more slots for friends on your friends list. Crafting badges also gives profile backgrounds and emoticons I believe.
I personally sell the cards because I don't want to get addicted to collecting Steam badges. You can only get so many cards for free, and getting more would require selling cards from other games to purchase the missing cards for other badges or an investment of money from some other source. I use the money I get from selling cards to purchase discounted games during Steam sales.

The idea behind them is that it's another way for Valve to make money. --- Pokemon X ~ 3668-7694-5178 ~ Braixen, Slugma [Safari] PM me anytime! Looking for active, friendly players on 3DS and Steam [Nakkaru]
