Is my network going to ****? Youtube constantly switching to 144p

#1Billdough002Posted 12/28/2013 1:01:39 PM
For the past month , videos on youtube have constantly gone from 360p to 240 and 144 P. Not to mention when i play a video, and then it stops midway(this is for 360p vids bt2)

Has this been happening to anyone else lately? Or is it just my network or w/e?

Try using a public DNS and see if it fixes the problem: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

wow, thanks for that^. Youtube videos are finally bearable for me to watch now and it seems to handle 360p videos much better.

how exactly does that google dns work anyway?(in laymans terms)

DNS resolves hostnames into IP addresses. I don't see why changing your DNS server would make streaming video's quicker, but apparently it worked for you.

By using googles DNS it allows you 'faster' resolution supposedly because google is so smart and cool.
