Skyrim, bf4, arma 3

Are you trying to say you can Max out these games with 2gb? Because it really is not possible, playing them at 25fps doesn't count. We are talking about maxing them out, highest settings.

But yes, of course the 770 can run those games fine

LOL, you can max out Skyrim on a crappy card. Skyrim is CPU bound not GPU.

Skyrim... Of course even modded with official highres textures... now if you mod to hell and back you might run into problems but those are self inflicted and easily avoided.

BF4. I run it fine on ultra with 4xaa (so not maxed) and achieve great frames still

Arma 3... This game is not to be maxed by ANY system. Its CPU heavy and the options allow for incredible view distances. Horrible horrible example.

Is that all you got?

Also, technically you can't max out any physx title. You going to be mad about that? A 770 4gb model is a bit of a waste because the actual speed of the memory bus isn't fast enough to warrant 4gb. By the time 4gb is needed, my 770 will be in need of an upgrade anyways and I imagine that won't be for a couple year yet.

Battlefield 4 uses physx? or were you just naming games that your 770 is able to play? <_<

Just newer games that run at incredible visuals at 1080p... just so happens the first 5 games listed use physx XD

Edit: What newer games use more than 2gb at 1080p right now at 4xMSAA (anymore is a waste)?

Afterburner tells me BF4 uses 2.3GB. And I think that's only with 2xaa

lol Skyrim? That's an easy one to max without mods. maxed it with my 570. now when i started using HD texture packs...that's a whole different story. Some parts were playable. Some were surely not.

Of course a 770 will Max sky rim, however I was referring to a the game with high res texture mods. Nobody plays skyim without mods, I regularly surpasses 3gb of vram, forcing the game to crash.

That hardop article is wrong, as bf4 maxed out, without a doubt, surpasses 2gb of vram.

Yerp, I'll take your word over someone that actually did the tests. Even modded to hell my 470 GTX struggled very little with skyrim. I have about 100+ graphics mods and an ENB mod.

But BF4 does use more than 2... Unless Afterburner is a liar.

Did you read the article?

"with 3GB or more of VRAM used 2.25GB of RAM at most points, cards with less topped out at 1.75GB of usage."

The drops in performance aren't related to Vram usage. It's something else.

All boils down to what you want out of your game, and how graphically intensive they are. 2gbs is enough to get by for a while, but others may crave more. I wanted to specifically Max bf4 at 60fps, and maximum aliasing, and to do that, I needed aleast 3gb of vram.

With the 290, during intense Action with explosions, shadows, and many players on screen, very seldomely will I see a dip in fps. The lowest I have ever seen is 55. The only reason I got the card was to Max bf4 with aliasing, granted I also play many games which are much less demanding such as csgo and terraria

Fraps doesn't show in the screenshot but I can assure you it was at 60 fps here with some drops to 55 with explosions at times
