I don't need to look at the tests. Anyone with any knowledge related to graphics cards and a pair of eyes will tell you that bf4 uses more than 2gb maxed out. The sheer notion that maxing out bf4 can be done with 2gb is ludacris. Many would call me crazy for even debating this

Uhh so you can tell VRAM usage with your eyes... Hero

Now this is just getting silly... They tested it, it doesn't require 2gb to max the graphics out.

Of course a 770 will Max sky rim, however I was referring to a the game with high res texture mods. Nobody plays skyim without mods, I regularly surpasses 3gb of vram, forcing the game to crash.

That hardop article is wrong, as bf4 maxed out, without a doubt, surpasses 2gb of vram.

Yerp, I'll take your word over someone that actually did the tests. Even modded to hell my 470 GTX struggled very little with skyrim. I have about 100+ graphics mods and an ENB mod.

But BF4 does use more than 2... Unless Afterburner is a liar.

Did you read the article?

"with 3GB or more of VRAM used 2.25GB of RAM at most points, cards with less topped out at 1.75GB of usage."

The drops in performance aren't related to Vram usage. It's something else.

Skyrim has a threshold of 3.1 vram, if you use more than that it crashes...... So, you are not pushing skyrim to it's limits.

All that article actually tells me is that it let's me know bf4 is not actually being maxxed out

Bf4 1080p full antialiasing 60fps cannot be achieved on a 2gb card, I had to upgrade from a 2gb in order to Max it out

So maxed out you mean what exactly for AA? Because by most peoples standards 4xMSAA is the sweet spot and it runs absolutely fine on my system at that setting. 8xAA doesn't look much better at all and costs a lot more performance wise. In case you missed it, I left a few pictures in post 50.

No I didn't read the article because I can see what the game is using.

1.75GB of 2GB is still cutting it too close for me though.

And I'm not even the one saying the 770 can't/won't max BF4...All I was talking about was the usage of vram.

@ricosan1988

What lol?
Just because it's using less VRAM doesn't mean anything.

Why does the game use more if it's available?

Maxed out means everything maxed out including anti aliasing, that is, every graphical setting turned up as high as it can go.

If you have anti aliasing turned up halfway, you are not massing it out

Whether having max aa is worth it is subjective. I think it looks great

The game will use More simply because their is more available for it to consume, obviously.
