And not one person mentioned Superhot? >_<

Isn't that more or less still just a tech demo?

Sort of. It was made for a 7 day FPS challenge, which they're expanding. If I remember correctly, it's on steam greenlight at the moment. Not sure what's been added since I played it, but if they have added more, it's definitely worth it.

Ah, seems it has been approved for greenlight. So the full steam release version isn't out at the moment, but even what they've already done is quite amazing. You can even check it out on the website for free TC, so you know what it's like.

The amount of filthy casuals in this topic is terrifying.

The Tribes series is what you're looking for, though the older games were better than the latest one.

I don't actually consider it an FPS but I really love the boss fights in Metroid Prime. It looks incredible in dolphin with the widescreen hack but it doesn't run super great, it has lots of microstutter and with the widescreen hack enabled sometimes textures disappear. It's also weird playing it with anything but a GameCube controller, I'd recommend just playing the real thing if you can find it.

Metroid Prime 1-2 are FPS games even if they add far more to it than just shooting and manually aiming is not required. Its the pinnacle of FPS, really.
