I'm so confused as to how my SSD works.

#1SkaterUBPosted 12/28/2013 11:37:10 PM
So I just installed my SSD as well as a fresh install of windows. I only have a 120gb SSD so that I can have Windows and a few of the bigger games put on it.

How the hell can I use my HDD for everything else though? I lost everything and want my stuff like I had it before the SSD. How can I have it all on there?

How can I have Steam install games on the HD and only certain games on the SSD?

I'm so confused.

Steam asks you where you want to download the game to now.

Steam does ask you where you want to install, and you can make a second Steam library folder on the HDD.

Other programs will also ask you where to install during the installation process/setup. You can just use a folder on the HDD. Maybe make a "Program files" folder on there to be able to find them easily later.

How can I transfer all of my stuff on Windows from my HDD to my SSD?

Account, pictures, documents, etc.

Windows Easy Transfer keeps saying I have to use it to save files, but then it closes when I click "No"

Pictures and documents you typically would leave on the H.D.D. anyways. And for small stuff like that you could always drag and drop..

Leave pics, docs etc on HDD. If you used the Libraries feature then you can just include the folders on the HDD in the presumably new Library with your fresh install. If you didn't I think you can still include a My Pictures folder for example without actually being on the same drive as the OS.

Accounts I don't think can be transferred easily, and I assume you want all the little tweaks (start-up programs, settings etc) you made to carry over. I'd imagine there's probably a convoluted method somewhere a google search away but I think your best bet is to just start from scratch in that sense.

The only problem is I use a wireless adapter to get my internet and can't even download the driver since I can't connect to the internet to download it lol. I tried moving the .exe file to my ssd and download it from there but it doesn't seem to work for me. CD also isn't compatible with W8
